The first Pokémon video game was released in Japan in 1996 on the Nintendo Game Boy system. Pokémon Red and Blue versions were developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo.

These games are set in the fictional region of Kanto, with the protagonist being a child who sets out on a journey to capture all 150 Pokémon creatures. It has since been followed by 19 more versions of the game, including sequels for each original generation.

Gen 1

The first generation of Pokemon games was one of the most successful games Nintendo has ever released. It brought many innovations to the gaming world, and millions of people around the world still play it.

Pokemon Red and Blue

The player is given a choice between Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle as their first partner.

Gen 4

It is a crossover between the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS versions that come with two versions that have different features. The Switch version features a capture mechanic that makes use of motion controls to throw Pokeballs at wild pokemon.

In contrast, the 3DS version has players view their avatar from overhead as they roam around towns and cities collecting items and encountering pokemon.
