OnePlus V Fold – It May Take Heavy Design Cues From OPPO’s Foldable Phone

OnePlus seems to be the next company to launch its foldable phone but has managed to keep things under wraps. However, there have been a few rumors swirling on the internet that hint at what the phone could look like. This rumor comes from Twitter Tipster Yogesh Brar, who suggests that OnePlus’ first foldable phone is expected to take several design cues from OPPO. Additionally, the foldable will be book-style and look similar to the OPPO Find N2 or the upcoming Find N3.

The Find N2 has been a muse for Android foldable phones with its 7.1-inch AMOLED display when unfolded. However, as 91Mobile states, rumors suggest that the Find N3 will be much larger and measure around 8 inches when unfolded. The screen is also expected to have a 120Hz refresh rate. If OPPO’s new phone sees this increase in size, chances are that OnePlis will follow suit and release a foldable phone with a large screen.

According to Brar, the similarities do not end at the screen size. OnePlus’s first foldable device may also feature the same primary camera currently on OPPO’s Find X6. This means that the device could feature three 50MP cameras. However, the publication points more towards the device having one 50MP primary camera, a 48MP ultrawide camera, and a 32MP telephoto lens. With the ongoing Hasselblad partnership seen on recent OnePlus flagship phones, it makes sense for the company to continue the setup on its foldable phones.

On the inside, both devices, the OnePlus, and the Find N3 will ship with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. It has also been speculated that the Find N3 will feature a 4805mAh battery, so it can be expected that the OnePlus V Fold will have one in a similar size. A book-style foldable phone was not something many expected from the brand. Still, it looks like OnePlus is branching out into the foldable phone category as it trademarks names for a V Flip and a V Fold.

The phone is expected to launch in the third quarter of 2023, so many expect an August release. Only then would the similarities between the OPPO and OnePlus become obvious.
