Vivo Rumored To Release a Galaxy Z Flip 4-Like Foldable Phone

Vivo is reportedly set to release a foldable phone and join Samsung, Oppo, and Motorola in the race to have the best foldable flip phone on the market. This phone is reportedly being prepared as a Galaxy Z Flip competitor and is dubbed the Vivo X Flip owing to the similarities between the two phones. Although it had been kept well under wraps for a while, a massive leak has spilled all the beans on its specs and what consumers can expect from the phone when it is released.

According to the leak provided by Digital Chat Station, the Vivo X Flip will have a large cover screen. In a previous mock on Weibo, the phone’s external display may sit vertically below the camera bump. Much like the recent Vivo X series of flagship phones from the company, the phone could have a large camera sensor with Zeiss branding. The primary sensor is expected to be a 50 MP Sony IMX866, and the other may be a 12MP Sony IMX663 ultra-wide shooter.

If these leaks are accurate, there is a good chance that the Vivo X Flip will one-up Samsung’s foldable phone as the latter only has a 12MP dual camera. One of the most polarizing aspects of the phone is the chipset being used; a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which is an older chip from 2022. However, despite it not being the best chip, it is by no means slow. The processor is expected to be paired with 12GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

Vivo’s decision to go with an older chip than the most recent Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC is most likely a cost-cutting measure as it will allow it to compete with the best phones out there without being too expensive for the general public. Additionally, all the latest foldable phones have similar chips. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 4 has the Snapdragon 8+ Ge 1 chipset, and the Oppo Find N2 is powered by the Dimensity 9000+.

According to the leaks, the Vivo X Flip will likely have a 6.8-inch internal display with an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, much like the Find N2 Flip. However, the Vivo X Flip has a high chance of outshining the competition as it is rumored to have a 4400mAh battery, the largest of any clamshell phone. This battery will then be paired with a charging speed of 44W.
