Google Pixel 7a Is Expected To Be Available Sooner but With a Higher Price Tag

The launch of a new phone in the Pixel A series has always been highly anticipated in the smartphone world. The Pixel 6a was a huge success last year, and people cannot wait for a more toned-down and affordable version of the Pixel 7, which will be called the Pixel 7a. Everyone has very high expectations for the phone as it will be cheaper than the standard Pixel 7 but bring great value.

Although everyone was set for the phone to be announced at the Google I/O 2023 event, rumors suggest that the phone will be available for purchase much sooner than anyone anticipated. Based on the Pixel 6a’s timeline, the Pixel 7a is slated to hit stores a couple of months after its official announcement. However, it seems like the Pixel 7a will arrive in stores and be available to purchase within the next two weeks.

A tweet from John Prosser also indicated that the launch would likely be on May 10th, the day Google I/O kicks off, and will be available for purchase immediately. His claims are further corroborated by 9to5, who noted that the Pixel 7a would likely be available for purchase around May 11th. Another interesting rumor surrounding the new phone is that it will cost $50 more than its predecessor, which costs $499. This price increase is not too surprising considering the upgrades and new features coming to the phone.

Launching the Pixel 7a immediately after the Google I/O 2023 event could be a strategic move by Google. By doing so, they will be able to create a larger window between the launch of the Pixel 7a and the Pixel 8 series. In creating this window, they will be able to prevent sales of either device from tanking.

The early release of the Pixel 7a comes as a pleasant surprise to many as it is one of the most anticipated affordable Android phones. Google has promised camera improvements alongside a new Google Tensor G2 chipset. The phone may also feature a new 90Hz refresh rate display which many have been expecting since the release of the Pixel 6a.
