Techno Reveals Its First Foldable Phone at the MWC 2023 – Could It Challenge the Galaxy Z Fold 4

The Mobile World Congress brought forth many exciting announcements, of which, perhaps the most exciting, is Techno becoming the next company to enter the foldable phone market. This foldable phone will most likely take on the likes of Galaxy Z Fold 4 and will be a solid competitor once it launches globally.

This new foldable phone is called the Phantom V Fold and is pretty impressive as it comes with all the bells and whistles you would expect from a flagship foldable phone. The phone is powered by MediaTek’s flagship MediaTek 9000+ chipset with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage on its base module. The screens on this phone are impressive as the external OLED display measures 6.42 inches, and the internal display is stated to be a 7.85-inch OLED screen. Techno boasts that the inner screen is virtually crease-free and seamless, something many companies have struggled to achieve.

The LTPO panels used in the Phantom V Fold can display content at a variable refresh rate ranging from 10Hz to 120Hz. This means it will help you save battery when doing regular tasks that do not require a high resolution. To validate the phone’s integrity, Techno has revealed that the hinge has been tested to withstand 200,000 folds, meaning you can easily get through years of use without the hinge malfunctioning. However, the phone is not water resistant, so you will need to be careful if you end up getting it.

The back plate of this phone is made using recycled plastic and has an impressive triple camera setup. There is a 50MP primary sensor, a 13MP ultrawide camera, and a 50MP 2x telephoto camera. On the internal display, there is a 16MP selfie camera, and on the external, there is a 32MP selfie camera, allowing you to take pictures no matter how you use the phone.

On the inside, the phone houses a large 5000mAh battery that supports 45W charging. This makes its battery and charging speeds larger and faster than that of the Galaxy Z Fold. Techno has also shown off the software enhancements they have made to their UI to incorporate the foldable design and to take full advantage of it.
