Motorola Edge 40 Pro Leak – A Rebranded Version for the Global Market

Motorola’s latest flagship, the Moto X40, debuted in China late last year with many impressive specs typical in some of the top Android phones. The international market really missed out on the Moto X40 because it was a top-of-the-line device powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. However, owing to the popularity of the phone, the company may soon introduce a global version with some of the same hardware.

The new device has a slight name change and is dubbed the Motorola Edge 40 Pro. According to leaker SnoopyTech, it may include Qualcomm’s latest mobile processor. The tipster also revealed some key specs customers can expect from the upcoming device. If these rumours prove true, then the Motorola Edge 40 could be a solid challenger for Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra.

According to the leak, the Edge 40 Pro will stick to the same specs as the China-only Moto X40. This includes a 6.67-inch display with a 165Hz refresh rate and a 4600mAh battery that supports 125W fast charging. The rear camera is expected to include a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide shooter and a 12MP telephoto camera.

The leaks also suggest that the Edge 40 Pro will cost €899 and ship in a single colour called Lunar Blue. The memory configuration will likely include RAM of up to 8 GB and storage of up to 256 GB. Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra also has similar memory configurations but costs €1102. Several renders of the Edge 40 Pro surfaced online a few days ago that showed off a sleek phone with a large curved display and a new stereo speaker set-up.

However, as the Pro model appears to be designed similarly to the X40, the regular variant may look very different. OnLeaks revealed that the Motorola Edge 40 will look very different from its China-only counterpart. The leaked renders show that the handset will only have a dual camera set up with a 50MP primary shooter and a 13MP ultrawide lens. Other than that, it is expected to look like its Pro sibling with a curved AMOLED screen with a square-shaped camera island.

The regular model will also likely be powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8020 chipset instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Leakers also claim the phone will include a 4400mAh battery with support for 15W wireless charging and 68W fast charging.
