What Is The Best VPN For Mobile?

Cybersecurity is one of the biggest concerns many people have in 2022. The reality is that our electronic devices hold a lot of extremely personal data which can be used against us. Without proper protection, we are at risk of identity theft, among other serious crimes.

Protecting your phone from theft is one thing. You should have insurance for your mobile in case it is stolen. Remember that phone insurance and phone warranty are not the same. Insurance will pay for claims when your phone is lost or stolen, while a warranty is simply an agreement that the manufacturer will repair any technical faults.

But neither insurance nor a warranty will get your data back if your phone is hacked. To prevent that from happening, you need a virtual private network (VPN). A VPN masks your IP address and encrypts all your data. Not only does it prevent hacking, but it also protects you against surveillance. You can use a VPN to view websites that are censored in your region as well.

All good VPNs work on every platform. However, a VPN that prioritizes mobile use is important, as you probably use your phone for both work and leisure purposes. Here are the best VPNs for mobile in 2022.

ExpressVPN

ExpressVPN

The simple fact of the matter is that ExpressVPN is the best VPN on the market. This is true for all platforms, and its mobile app is near perfect. If we left price out of the equation, the list would begin and end with ExpressVPN.

The benefits of ExpressVPN for mobile include its huge array of servers around the world, excellent speeds, and its trustworthiness. All VPNs will tell you that they do not keep your data and use the best methods to prevent any human other than you from having access to it. However, ExpressVPN have gone the extra mile and has been audited by a number of independent third parties.

It is at the price point that many people get stuck. You can get a subscription for $12.95 a month or $100 a year. This is somewhat more expensive than many of the other options.

Surfshark

SurfShark

Surfshark has become one of the most popular VPNs over the past year. This is because it rivals ExpressVPN for quality while offering much lower prices. While Surfshark does not have the benefit of too many independent audits (they commissioned an audit that gave them top marks), it does offer many servers around the world.

Speeds are also great. However, some users complain that servers are not always consistent, and it is sometimes necessary to switch servers in the middle of a task like torrenting.

ExpressVPN charges $100 for a year’s subscription. Surfshark, on the other hand, charges $60 upfront for two full years (and currently offers an extra 3 months on top of that). That works out to around $2.50 a month. It provides far better value than ExpressVPN.

NordVPN

NordVPN

You probably recognize the name NordVPN. It is perhaps the most well-known VPN, having invested in some excellent marketing over the past few years. It is also a very good VPN for mobile.

While it is not quite as fast as ExpressVPN, it offers a similar level of trust. It also offers extra features, such as a dedicated IP address and VPN access to Tor. It is cheaper than ExpressVPN, with a two-year plan costing $83.43 at present.

NordVPN does offer additional tiers at higher prices. These tiers offer a password manager as well as data breach scanning. Considering the fact that passkeys are likely to replace passwords soon, a password manager is not such a big benefit. The top tier offers 1 TB of encrypted cloud storage. At the price of $142 for the whole package, that may well be worth it.

Using a VPN on your mobile in 2022 is crucial. If you have not already invested in a subscription, choose one of the above VPNs. Each is excellent and provides multiple benefits. Even ExpressVPN, which is the most expensive option, is pretty affordable.
