Nothing Phone (1) Announcement

The Official Nothing Phone (1) Announcement

After months of secrecy and hints, the Nothing Phone (1) has finally been released in all its glory. The brand led by OnePlus founder Carl Pei officially announced the Nothing Phone 1 at its launch event. This phone is the second product by the company after the release of the Ear 1 true wireless earbuds.

This new phone is moderately priced at £399 when it goes on sale on July 21, 2022. At this price, you will get 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. However, you have the option to upgrade and get 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage. This upgraded model is expected to go on sale later in the summer and will cost an additional £100.

One downside to this highly anticipated phone is that it will not go on sale in the US due to provider issues. The Nothing Phone 1 is expected to release in 40 other markets. These include the UK, Japan, India, and other countries in mainland Europe.

Unlike other companies, the Nothing brand gave hints and snippets of what to expect from the phone before its release. Therefore, many people knew what to expect, and they were pretty pleased with the final announcement at the official event.

The most standout feature of the phone is a light strip placed strategically on the rear of the device. These lights are called the glyph interface and can be used in various ways. For example, it can indicate the battery levels, whether or not the phone is charging, notifications, incoming calls, etc.

The phone also has two 50-megapixel main and ultrawide sensors. The main camera supports optical and electronic image stabilization and other features, such as portrait mode, night mode, document scanning mode, etc. The ultrawide camera has a 114-degree field of view and can take macro shots up to 4cm.

The screen is a 6.55-inch 1080p OLED display with a peak brightness of 1200 nits. There is also a 16-megapixel selfie camera nestled in a small hole punch cutout. The Nothing Phone 1 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G Plus processor that allows a balance of price, power consumption, performance, and heat output.
