Xiaomi 13 Ultra is Confirmed to Launch in April

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is Confirmed to Launch in April

The Xiaomu 13 series was launched in China late last year with two models, the standard and the Pro models. The main attraction of this series was the Leica co-branded cameras. There were no signs of the two having an Ultra sibling. Still, rumors were floating around on the internet about the company potentially releasing a pro model in the upcoming months. Surely enough, Xiaomi has confirmed a top-tier variant, which will be released this month.

In a tweet made by the official Xiaomi Twitter account, the company is ready to reveal its Xiaomu 13 Ultra in April. Like the phones in the series, the device will carry on the Leica and Xiaomu collaboration, which was started in 2022 when the Xiaomi 12 series launched. The company has also confirmed that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will not be a Chinese-exclusive model and will be released in global markets just like the standard Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro did. This does not come as a surprise as the founder and CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, promised the same for the 13 series last year and delivered.

With the Xiaomi 13 Ultra getting global exposure soon, both Leica and Xiaomi are hinting at several exciting upgrades coming to the device. In a separate tweet, the camera maker teased that the phone will utilize a Summicron lens, which will be the most perfect lens created in mobile imaging. Summicron is Leica’s branding for its camera lens.

Although neither Xiaomi nor the German-based company Leica have gone into the specifics of the 13 Ultra, it is expected to have incredible imaging prowess alongside four 50MP sensors on the back. In contrast, the Xiaomi 13 Pro only has a triple rear camera setup. This consists of a 50MP primary shooter, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a 50 MP telephoto. The Ultra model may go a step further and add in another 50 MP zoom lens.

According to previous rumors, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Genz 2 chipset, which comes as no surprise as it is one of the best chips on the market. Its siblings also use the same processor.
