Motorola Edge 40 Render Leaks

Motorola Edge 40 Render Leaks – A Familiar Dual Camera Setup and a Colourful Design

In a major leak, renders for Motorola’s new Edge 40 appeared online, showing off the design and color of the phone. The leak comes from Evan Blass on Twitter, who shared these official-looking device renders. The Motorola Edge 40 comes after the Edge 40 launched in Europe early this month. Although these aren’t the first renders, they give a much better look at the device from different angles.

The Edge 40’s design does not stray from the Pro model and keeps most of the design elements, including the endless edge display. The phone is also the successor to the Edge 30, which was released last year as an affordable flagship phone. The Edge 40 will likely follow suit. However, when compared to the Edge 30, the Edge 40 looks significantly different. It now has a much more prominent curved display, which seemingly merges with the metal frame and has rounded corners.

The renders also highlight the phone display with a hole-punch cutout at the top and a seamless in-screen fingerprint reader. The back of the phone has a textured finish, and many assume that it is because of the polycarbonate used. This material is popular for most affordable Android phones, given its cheap cost.

The new renders also show off the new colorways suggesting that Motorola is moving away from the traditional black. The Edge 40 is expected to come in blue, green, and Magenta owing to the company’s partnership with Pantone. Last year’s Motorola Edge 30 released in the US also saw a Fushia color due to this partnership.

The Edge 40 is also expected to have a redesigned camera module on the back with dual cameras sporting a 50MP primary sensor. The camera module follows the same design language found on almost all Motorola 2023 models, meaning the company is aiming to streamline its design and make its lineup more cohesive. The Motorola Edge 40 will likely have the same sensor as the Edge 40 Pro with a second 12 MP sensor.

Based on the leaked renders, it is not far-fetched to assume that the new Motorola phone will include Dolby Atmos-powered speakers and will ship with Android 13 out of the box. There will also be some level of water resistance.
