Tekken 8

The Brand New Tekken 8 Is Here

Tekken 8 was teased in August during EVO, a fighting game tournament. Last year, it also appeared on a list of games leaked from an Nvidia database. Therefore, the announcement is not a shock but pleasant news for Tekken fans.

The trailer of this brand new game shows a lot of muscles but gives little else. There are no details about the game in the trailer; all that is known is that it will be released on PlayStation 5. However, it is highly likely that the game will receive a PC release as its predecessor, Tekken 7, is available on PC.

The trailer has fine print, confirming that it is not a pre-rendered scene and real-time footage of the game being played on a PS5.

Katsuhiro Harada, the director of Tekken 8, stated in a blog post that the clips are from the story mode. He detailed that all of the character models, effects, and backgrounds are the same as those used in-game. He pointed out the rain drops as an example and said that the drops streaming down the character’s skin came from actual real-time rendering of a game screen and that it wasn’t done just for the trailer.

Harada also made an interesting claim when he said that the Tekken series holds the world record for being the longest-running story in a video game. This is true as Guinness certified Tekken in 2017 as the longest-running videogame storyline, which has continued without any developmental gaps or reboots.

To continue this Guinness World Record, Tekken 8 will keep the story going and, according to Harada, will focus on the showdown between Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama, who are father and son.

Despite the release of the trailer, the game is still in development. Therefore, fans will have to wait a little longer to find out the meaning behind the game, how the storyline will pan out, and other details that the current trailer has not yet revealed.
