Ever since the release of their very own custom chip, Apple has taken to upgrading it each time. In the recent Apple WWDC, they announced the new M2, which will be featured in their updated laptops, including the overhauled MacBook Air and the 13-inch MacBook Pro. However, there have been talks about what is next with these upgrades.
Reports suggest that Apple will launch M2 Max chips, an upgrade over the pre-existing M1 Max chips that have 10CPU cores and 32 GPU cores. Furthermore, hardware changes are also expected. Reports say that Apple might be releasing a larger version of the MacBook Air. This laptop would be 15-inches and may release as soon as next spring.
Alongside this larger laptop, Apple is also supposedly working on a smaller laptop measuring 12 inches. This laptop could be unveiled next year or early 2024 as testing is still ongoing. The eventual M3 is also in the testing stage. With the release of these products, Apple will have an impressive range of laptops that can cater to a larger audience.
There have also been updates regarding the iPad Pro, which state that a 14.1-inch iPad Pro with Mini LED backlighting is in development. This new iPad will have a ProMotion display and will possibly launch in the first half of 2023.
Additionally, it is also reported that newer versions of the existing iPads, the 11-inch, and 12.9-inch iPads, are in the development stage and are expected to launch later this year. The larger version may be released alongside it as a larger screen will best utilize the new multitasking feature of the iOS 16.
As Apple is intent on expanding its laptop range, a smaller, entry-level laptop makes much more sense. Therefore the 12-inch laptop will be an excellent way to pull people into its ecosystem.
