How to watch Transformers Movies in Chronological Order?

1. Bumblebee (1987)

Chronologically, this is the first movie of the Transformers series. The movie stars Hailee Stanfield, who plays the role of Charlie, a teenager who is going through her father’s death. She discovers Bumblee, who is an Autobot and is hiding on Earth. The film takes place before the other transformers movie and is back in the 1980s. This helps fans understand when the Transformers appeared on Earth.

2. Transformers (2007)

The Transformers movie is about a group of heroic Autobots and their human allies battling evil Decepticons. The Autobots are sentient, transforming vehicles that can change from cars to planes to tanks. Optimus Prime leads them, and they protect Earth from the Decepticons, led by Megatron.

After Bumblebee, this movie takes place in 2007, 20 years after the first movie explaining how Bumblebee hides away on Earth. The movie introduces a nerdy high school student, Sam Witwicky, the protagonist of the movie and the other three films. He and Mikela Banes, including a bunch of friendly Autobots, combine forces to track down the powerful AllSpark. Autobots believe that a frozen Megatron engraves the location of AllSpark in Sam’s grandfather’s glasses/ The journey begins in the search, and the battle takes place in Mission City, where AllSpark gets reduced to a shard, and evil Megatron gets defeated.

3. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)

Before all the chaos begins, Revenge of the Fallen starts with a prologue of Earth set in 17,000 BC. It shows how a group of Transformers is building a Star Harvester, a machine that will later be utilized in the movie’s climax. When creating this machine, the Transformers are attacked by a bunch of cavemen leading to a violent encounter between both men and Transformers.

The movie is set in 2009 and two years after the original Transformers movie. In this part, Sam Witwicky is finally off to college. However, his pursuits of gaining an education fail as he gets touched by the shard of AllSpark and starts behaving differently. On the other hand, Megatrons restoration to life has resulted in the evil plans of Decepticon to move further. These plans take place in the Giza Pyramids, and the movie takes a thrilling turn as Optimus Prime and his team battle to wrong the rights and protect the humans.

4. Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)

Dark of the Moon starts with another prologue set in the past, and this time it shows the Space Race of the 60s and how an Autobot ship, The Ark, crashed into the Moon. This past detour involves a lot of historical figures such as John F. Kennedy, Richard M.Nixon, and Buzz Aldrin, who were later shown to help explain the conspiracy.

The movie takes place three years after the Revenge of the Falken and shows how Sam has finally graduated college and is off to work. Even though he has saved the world twice, Sam struggles to keep a steady job. Simultaneously, Sam is dealing with his new girlfriend, Carly Spencer. Meanwhile, Decepticons form a new plan to bring Cybertron to Earth to wreck the planet. The movie’s climax includes a full attack on the city of Chicago and how the Autobots come in to help deal with the invasion of evil on Earth. On the other hand, Sam has to save his girlfriend from her boss, who has fallen in plan with the Decepticons and is now working with them to jeopardize Earth and the people.

5. Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)

The Age of Extinction takes action 5 years after the Dark of the Moon and adds a new protagonist. Say Goodbye to Witwicky’s and welcome Cade Yeager, played by Mark Wahlberg. He is a single dad in texas with a thick Boston accent living with his daughter Tessa. Tessa, and her boyfriend Shane, get swept in the new adventure by the Transformers soon after Cade wakes up a hibernating Optimus Prime.

As soon as the leader wakes up, he combines his forces with the three to find out the remaining Autobots to fight the new evil off. The CIA operative Harold Attinger has joined his forces with the robotic bounty hunter, who is named to kill all the Transformers. Cade and Transformers have faced off against the Lockdown, and a revived Megatron, now called the Galvatron in Hong Kong. The battle follows Dinobots and concludes as Optimus Prime heads off to space to challenge his creators.

The movie’s prologue is set in the past, where people are taken years back into the prehistoric times of the Creators and show the aliens responsible for making the Transformers and how they are the ones who eradicated the dinosaurs.

6. Transformers: The Last Knight (2017)

After a prologue that shows how Transformers and King Arthur were essentially allies, the movie then fast forwards to the time when it’s set in the present and how after Age of Extinction, Yeager is helping all the Autobot refugees in his yard.

Together they are searching for Optimus Prime, whom they last saw when he went to space to challenge his creators. He is now captured by Quintessa and has become evil. Optimus and Cade directly compete to acquire an ancient sword, which Prime wants to use to bring back Cybertron while destroying Earth.

Yeager and his new lover Vivian Wembley, planning to save the people, discover an organization led by Sir Edmund Burton. The latter secretly protects all the Transformers involved in an important event of the past.

Even though, throughout the movie, we are told that the robots were a part of everything that took place from the Underground Railroad to the life of Shakespeare, the audiences also get to see a flashback of our favorite Bumblebee fighting with the forces in World War II.
