Skull and Bones – Ubisoft’s New Game Gets a Release Date

When Skull and Bones were first shown at E3 2017 with the expectation of a pirate adventure by autumn 2018, they ran into a number of difficulties that caused a number of delays. In spite of several obstacles, such as a development relaunch in 2018 and further delays to 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2023, the multiplayer role-playing game has now officially announced a new delivery window for early 2024.

Skull and Bones, which debuted at The Game Awards 2023, has revealed a new release date of February 13, 2024, which will be available only to Ubisoft+ subscribers. A wider release is scheduled for February 16. The game, which will be available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, will take players on an engrossing journey from anonymity to pirate overlord. In a recent in-depth gameplay analysis, it was demonstrated how players of Skull & Bones need to establish their reputation, take part in naval battles, and savor a huge open world full of opportunities and dangers. Players can also personalize up to ten distinct ships, each with bonuses tailored to fit their unique playstyles.

In Skull & Bones, players take on the role of captains and travel dangerous waters while taking contracts from kingpins, factions, and merchants to obtain resources. While sailing from Africa to the East Indies, they encounter erratic weather patterns, diverse animals, and tenacious pirate hunters.

The in-depth look at gameplay also demonstrated how players may choose to play alone or establish groups with up to two buddies by forming alliances and interacting with other players. Shareable contracts and incentive systems are part of this cooperative gameplay experience. To accommodate a wide range of player tastes, there are optional PvP servers for players who want greater danger, while alternate PvE servers provide a less competitive setting for players who want a more cooperative experience. The gameplay of Skull and Bones is centered around the captain’s viewpoint, which limits the player’s freedom to sail the ship and take part in island attacks. When captains are able to take a brief break from steering to explore hideouts and outposts, the main gameplay mechanic is having the player assume control of the ship when it is at sea.

Players who can’t wait for Skull & Bones to launch officially can take part in a limited beta that runs from December 15 to December 18.
