A New Xiaomi Variant With a Dynamic Island-Style Camera Housing May Be on the Horizon

For the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2023, Xiaomi is preparing to launch its recent flagship phones globally. This includes the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro, which will be available to international markets. The event is scheduled for February 26th, and it seems Xiaomi may be hiding another device up its sleeves. This device is dubbed the Xiaomi 13 Lite 5G and will be a part of the Xiaomi 13 device lineup.

The device is not an entirely new phone but appears to be a rebranded version of an old Xiaomi phone called the Xiaomi Civi 2, according to Sudhanshu Ambhore, who revealed this information. The phone was initially supposed to be a China exclusive much like the 13 and 13 Pro. Still, the company decided to release all three in the upcoming launch later this month.

Of the three devices being released, the 13 and 13 Pro will be the higher-end models powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and Leica-powered camera. The Xiaomi 13 Lite is expected to be a more cost-effective model if the rumours of it being the Civi 2 are true. On paper, the specs for this phone look promising. The phone will likely sport a 6.55-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz resh rates and a Full HD+ resolution. It will also have the newest Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, which was released as a mid-range gaming-focused chipset.

The tipster also states that the phone will have a triple rear camera setup. This means it will include a 50MP primary camera, a 20MP wide-angle lens and a 2MP macro lens. In terms of battery, the Xiaomi 13 Lite will probably come with a 4500mAh battery and a 67W fast-charge adapter. The pill-shape cutout on the screen is expected to house two 32 MP selfie cameras, of which one can act as a regular selfie camera. The other can be used as a wide-angle camera to take selfies with a larger group.

Regarding the pill-shaped cutout, which is drawing much attention from customers, it is unclear whether or not the Xiaomi 13 Lite will incorporate features from Dynamic Island found in the recent Apple 14 Peos. However, according to a Vietnam-based Youtuber, the device did not have any Dynamic-Island-styled software. So, the shape is likely just a design choice.
