Xiaomi Mi12S Ultra

The Xiaomi Mi12S Ultra Comes With a Huge Camera Sensor

Xiaomi has released three smartphones and one of them has a unique feature; a one-inch camera sensor. This phone, the Xiamoi Mi12S Ultra is a generally huge phone. Since it is a flagship phone, it has a huge 6.73-inch OLED display, an excellent chip, the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 system. Furthermore, it also has a camera lens protruding from the back.

The camera on this new flagship is so huge that it covers one-third of the phone’s backside. Within the huge faux-lens, Xiaomi has integrated three cameras. One is a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 48-megapixel telephoto with a 5x optical zoom. The last camera is a 50-megapixel main camera, which uses a 1-inch sensor.

Even though Xiaomi is not the first company to have a one-inch camera on its phone, you may find such sensors on higher-end point-and-shoots. One example is Sony’s RX100 series.

A one-inch sensor allows you to gather more light. Therefore, you can capture more detailed images. However, it won’t turn your phone into a DSLR, but it would be way better than a smartphone camera having sensors way smaller than one inch.

The Xiaomi Mi12S Ultra is said to be co-engineered with Leica, which helped split the cost of the large sensor with Sony. It is reported that the new flagship will use the entire sensor, and not just a part of it like Sony’s phone did last year. Therefore, it will better utilize the sensor and all its capabilities.

Other than the camera, this phone will have all the features of a typical flagship phone. These features include IP68 water and dust resistance, a 67W wired fast charging, a huge 4860 mAh battery, and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The Mi12S Ultra is also said to be the first Android device to have the capability of shooting in Dolby Vision HDR. The phone will launch first in China and will have two lower-end models; the 12S and the 12S Pro. These phones will also have a big camera sensor. However, it will be smaller than the 1-inch one, at 1/1.28 inch, but still larger than other smartphones
