Poco Takes On Samsung

Poco Takes On Samsung: The New Poco F5 Pro Set To Rival Last Year’s Galaxy S22

Poco is well known in the smartphone market for releasing smartphones with high-end features at a fraction of the price of other flagship phones. The company just announced that it would release two new phones with some of the best processors on the market. The two phones are called the Poco F5 and the F5 Pro. They will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor and the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 SoC, respectively. Considering the chips are still regarded as powerful, the phone’s price makes it an excellent deal.

The Poco F5, which is the standard model, is essentially a rebranded Redmi Note 12 Turbo which Xiaomi unveiled back in March. This phone will have a 6.67-inch FullHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 5000mAh battery. It will also have 67W fast charging and a triple-camera setup. The primary camera is expected to have a 64MP sensor.

Much like the upper mid-range Redmi model, the Poco F5 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 SoC. This is a new chip that has not made its way to a large number of Android phones, given it was revealed in March. The architecture of this mid-range chip is nearly identical to last year’s Snapdragon 8+Gen 1 SoC.

The Poco F5 Pro is a flagship-level device and will be powered by the same processors as some of the best flagship Android phones from last year. This includes the Samsung Galaxy S22 series. In the Poco, the chip will be paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. To make the Pro model more appealing, Poco has equipped it with a WQHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display, making it the first Poco device with such a high resolution. The new screen allows it to also offer 1400 nits of brightness.

The head of marketing at Poco Global, Angus Ng, also stated that the phone was designed for dedicated techies wanting the best forward-looking technology. He further claimed that the two devices make gaming more accessible and much more enjoyable. Customers can also take excellent photographs, create video content, and even use multiple apps at once.
